What is animal-assisted wellness?

Animal-assisted wellness is a goal-oriented approach that incorporates thoughtfully planned interactions with animals to encourage relaxation, mindfulness, confidence, social connection, and overall well-being. At Hollow & Hare, these experiences are combined with nature, mindfulness, creative exploration, gentle movement, and holistic wellness education to support the whole person.

Is this therapy or counseling?

No. Hollow & Hare provides animal-assisted wellness services, educational programs, and nature-based experiences designed to support overall well-being. Our services are not psychotherapy, counseling, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or medical treatment.

Why rabbits?

Rabbits are gentle, social animals that naturally encourage us to slow down, become present, and build trust through calm interaction. Because rabbits are prey animals, they don't give their trust freely—they invite us to practice patience, gentleness, awareness, and respect.

Who can participate?

Hollow & Hare welcomes children, teens, adults, older adults, families, schools, senior living communities, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community groups seeking meaningful animal-assisted and nature-based wellness experiences.

What ages can participate?

Most programs are designed for participants ages 6 and older. Some programs may have different age recommendations depending on the activities involved.

What happens during a session?

Each session is thoughtfully designed around connection, mindfulness, and engagement. Activities may include rabbit interaction, mindfulness practices, nature-based experiences, creative exploration, gentle movement, wellness education, and guided discussion tailored to the individual or group.

Do I need experience with rabbits?

Not at all! No previous experience is necessary. Every session begins with guidance on safely and respectfully interacting with the rabbits, and we'll support you throughout the experience.

Are the rabbits safe?

Yes. Our rabbits are carefully selected, socialized, and monitored to ensure positive interactions. Participants are guided throughout every session on how to safely and respectfully interact with the rabbits.

How are the rabbits cared for?

The health and well-being of our rabbits is our highest priority. They receive daily enrichment, exercise, socialization, routine veterinary care, proper nutrition, and plenty of opportunities to rest between visits. Participation is always voluntary.

What if I have allergies?

If you have concerns about allergies, asthma, or sensitivities to animals, hay, or fragrances, please contact us before scheduling so we can discuss whether a program is appropriate for you.

Do you offer private and group sessions?

Yes. We offer individual, family, small group, school, senior living, community, and organizational wellness programs that can be customized to meet your needs.

How long are sessions?

Most sessions range from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the program and participant needs.

Do you travel?

Yes. Hollow & Hare provides mobile services throughout Schertz, Cibolo, New Braunfels, Seguin, San Antonio, and surrounding communities. Travel outside our primary service area may be available for an additional fee.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing is recommended. Closed-toe shoes are encouraged for outdoor programs, and participants should dress appropriately for the weather.

How do I get started?

Getting started is easy! Contact us to discuss your goals, and we'll help determine the best program, session format, and schedule for you, your family, or your organization.
